Who Can Host a Thriving Workshop?
Our goal in developing the Thriving Workshop and Facilitator Toolkit is to make it freely available and accessible to train as many people as possible in trauma-informed care. There are no special requirements for hosting a Thriving Workshop beyond a dedication to improving the lives of people with IDD who have experienced trauma.
Hosts are encouraged to have some relevant experience in supporting people with IDD, trauma-informed services, and/or mental health, but need not be an "expert" in these areas. The Toolkit provides recommended scripts for each slide in the presentation. They are meant as suggestions, not required scripts, but may help to fill in some gaps in knowledge or experience. If you are interested in hosting a workshop but do not feel sufficiently knowledgeable in a topic, you may also consider working with a co-facilitator or inviting guest speakers.

THRIVING would not be possible with out the support of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN). THRIVING is an adaptation of "The Road to Recovery: Supporting Children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Who Have Experienced Trauma" developed by the NCTSN. This toolkit, designed for providers of children with IDD, is available at the NCTSN Learning Center.
